Pride Week 2023
But not the type of pride you are thinking of...it is Trinty/Saint Xavier pride week! A week of Trinity - Saint X games culminating in the varsity football game on Friday night at UofL stadium! Lauren has been a busy girl this week.
Monday - JV football game at Saint X. Trinity won 33-35, but Saint Xavier made a valiant effort at a comeback.
Wednesday - Varsity soccer game at Trinity. A 2-2 draw, but a great game full of action. The cheerleaders stood on the bleachers and cheered the entire game. It was different from football because they were able to watch the entire game. They also practiced their half time show; the girls were upset because they did not cue their music properly, but the parents loved it!!!
Thursday - Freshman football game at Saint X. Trinity won 50-7, not the best showing, but the girls did great! The halftime show is fabulous!!
And Alison went to the freshman sleepover before the walk, and she was lucky that her friend Sydney brought an air mattress so she didn't have to sleep on the floor. Lauren spent the night at her friend Isabelle's house with several other juniors.
Friday - The girls did the walk in the morning, and I picked Alison up from school at noon. I got a call from Lauren at 1:15 that she didn't have the right skirt and could I bring it to her like as soon as possible so she would have it for the pep rally. I got it there just in the nick of time, and a nice football manager let me into the gym where the girls were just getting ready to start.
I had Papa drop me off at the tailgate around 3:30, so I could help set up. It was a bougie tailgate with a chandelier and mums with bows and LOTS of food and decorations. The girls arrived around 5, and were interviewed by 2 different news teams, had a quick bit to eat and then went off to cheer around the parking lot. Lauren saw 3 of her friends at their tailgates along the way. Brad, Ali, Drew and Mum Mum arrived around 6, and it was CRAZY, like I had memories of tailgating in Ann Arbor. It is quite a nice setup that they have at UofL!
The cheerleaders went in and changed into their third outfit of the day and did they halftime show as a pre-game show with the band playing their music since Trinity (as the home team) did not allow their music to be played. (I suspect it is related to the fact that the Trinity cheerleaders did not have anything prepared.) They did GREAT!!!!
The game was a blowout the wrong way, but the girls cheered until the very end! They were able to move down in front of the parents after the student section cleared out near the end of the third quarter. Lauren was EXHAUSTED, but what a great week. And the weather was perfect.
