Autumn

PHOTOS AT THE END…. I need to do some work on doing this on my Ipad, but for now just be happy there are photos!  Progress…

This video (if it actually works is Archie opening the door to the garage.  Warning: If you have a smart dog, do not have lever door handles!)

I think autumn has finally arrived, and I am so happy to finally be able to wear some of the amazing Cabi sweaters I have been admiring on my rack since August.  And I just love the crisp air and the beautiful leaves and the lead up to Thanksgiving and Christmas.

It has been a very busy past few weekends.  Lauren went to her first school dance, and I took Alison and two of her gym friends to the GOLD OVER AMERICA tour with Simone Biles.  Drew has had lots of soccer games, and we had a small party with some of Drew’s soccer buddies for his birthday.

Lauren went over to a friend’s house and did her own thing for Halloween, and it was different not having her here, but she had the BEST time.  I am so grateful for the friends she has made at Assumption.

Alison had gymnastics clinic from 8-3:30 both days over the weekend, so she was pretty tired, but the prospect of candy revved her up enough to go out trick or treating.

Drew was devastated after Michigan lost to Michigan State, thankfully for both Drew AND Brad, we had the party to look forward to after the game and that was a great distraction.  We organised a Minute to Win in Challenge for Drew and his friends, with 6 challenges.  They are all pretty competitive (some more than others!), and the winner of $5 was Liam Rice.  We were hoping to be outside but it was a bit muddy.  He had a soccer match in Cincinnati on Halloween, and got back around 4:25.  He had a great time trick or treating with his soccer buddy, Jack.

I did forget to mention sweet Archie in the last post.  He has calmed down a bit, but he still LOVES to play and can get himself into trouble at times.  He was very chill when I was outside handing out candy for Halloween, but he got plenty of attention.  His latest trick is that he can open the door to the garage, so if you say “Let’s go for a ride!”  He runs to the door and waits for about 15 seconds and then if you don’t open the door, he does it himself!  He is still my shadow, and has a great time running around in circles playing with other dogs when we go on walks around the neighborhood.

Thankfully for Drew, he and Brad went to the Michigan game the week after the loss to Michigan State, and it was a win over Indiana.  It was a night game, and they went with Brad’s friend Rich and his son Wesley, who Drew had a great time tossing the football with!  And then when they got back, it was a replay of Drew’s match against Lou City, and they tied 3-3.  As for Michigan, they pulled out an amazing win over Penn State this past weekend, but it wasn’t looking so good with 3 minutes left.  Brad was getting so worked up that he gave himself a time out, and they WON!!  Which makes the game against Ohio State in 2 weeks time “the biggest game of Jim Harbaugh’s career,” and Brad and Drew will be there!  (I have told everyone that I get first dibs on Michigan tickets next year because I don’t think I have been to a Michigan game in about 10 years.)

Gymnastics competition season officially started this past weekend.  Alison did great!  It was at her gym, and she medalled in all 4 events and received second place all around for her age group.  Since she gets dropped off and picked up, I have not even set foot in the gym to watch practice at all this year, so it was so great to see her doing what she loves!  It will be a busy few months of competitions, commencing with the State Meet in the end of March.

Drew’s soccer is on a bit of a break between outdoor season and Futsal.  I have to say, it has been nice to have a bit of a break from at least one activity.  I am looking forward to having a regular Futsal season this year with games and all; last year, there were no games, only practice.  It will be fun to learn about a new version of soccer.  He is trying out basketball at church, it is more of a rec league, not so competitive.  I am hoping this experience will encourage Drew to try out baseball in the spring.  It’s good to try a couple of different sports.
