THE G.O.A.T
After watching Tom Brady win his 7th superbowl at age 43 on Sunday, we have had much discussion about GOATS around here. (For anyone wondering, that stands for “Greatest of All Time.). There seems to be a universal consensus that Tom Brady is the GOAT of football. It is hard to argue against that assertion, as he has won more superbowls than anyone else and played in more superbowls than anyone else and has won the MVP in more than 50% of those Superbowls. Not to mention that he is 43 years old. And he plans to continue playing.
We (mostly Brad and I, and sometimes Drew) have been in discussions about GOATS from other sports. And who is the greatest period. We decided that Babe Ruth is the GOAT of baseball, Wayne Gretzky is the GOAT of hockey. It is a toss up between Michael Jordan and LeBron James for basketball.
This Superbowl was the first one that Drew has watched, as he was just 3 when we moved to London and didn’t have really any interest in football. They did broadcast the games in London; however, they didn’t start until nearly midnight. And they weren’t really the same since they showed British commercials rather than American commercials! We always watched the game the day after, knowing the winner already. He was really excited all day long, and we let him stay up until the end of the game. He was happy that Tom and Bucs were victorious.
I read an article yesterday about Tom Brady and his daily routine, and his diet. And it seems to me that he does not have a great balance. Every bit of his life is dedicated to being the GOAT. He wakes up at 5:30 AM and works out and drinks electrolyte water; he eats 80% vegetables and 20% meat and no red meat, and avoids tomatoes and peppers. And apparently he has never tasted coffee!!! What?!??! And I am sure he doesn’t drink alcohol or eat anything sweet. That all seems just a bit over the top. There is no balance. My motto has always been everything in moderation. But, I guess if he is happy with that sort of lifestyle then who I am to judge?
