They call me taxi driver....

The kids are fully into their activities now.  Drew is enjoying his new soccer club, Elite FC.  He has practice two days a week, and games on Saturday.  The park where they train is massive!  It reminds both Brad and I of Richmond Park.  I even saw deer there yesterday!  They do teams by year here, so Drew is on the 11 team as he was born in 2011.  Which means that he is one of the youngest, and also one of the smallest, but he doesn't let that deter him.

And Alison has said that she enjoys her new gym more than her old gym, which I am so happy to hear.  She wasn't so keen at the start.  She has her first practice meet next weekend, so they have been learning their routines.  She has now decided that bars is her favourite apparatus, but she still really dislikes the vault.  They keep the springboard a bit far from the mat for her liking.  It makes me happy to see her back doing what she loves.

We are hoping to find a drama class of some sort for Lauren to participate in.  There is a great arts center not far from here, and I have just signed her up for a musical theatre class there.  

Now I am the taxi driver.  I am so thankful that Drew and Alison have their activities on different days!  And I am thankful that we have one day a week with no activities.  I think that is a good thing for everyone!

And I am 1000% grateful that the kids take the bus to school, which means I don't have to drive to and from school everyday!  It does however mean that my alarm clock starts beeping at 5:36 AM (Don't worry, most days I don't get out of bed until closer to 6 AM....the snooze is my friend again.)

Archie has made a dog friend called Harley, who lives a couple of streets over, but we seem to have a similar walk schedule.  Whenever they see each other, they have a nice play and then Archie has a great sleep.  Today, I took him off the lead so they didn't get too tangled up, and he saw another dog and he BOLTED!!!  He is SO fast.

    Enjoy reading your blog. I am glad they can ride the bus. Sounds like you have lots of driving for other stuff. Does drew play at parklands.?

    I drove through Richmond park last weekend and thought of you. I’m so happy the kids are settling in and their routines are getting on. I hope it works out that you find a class for Lauren.

    Awww Archie must be getting so big now. I’m glad he’s found a playmate.

    Don’t forget to take time for you during all that taxi driving and mom life. You definitely deserve it! Big hugs! Miss you all.

Saint X Cheer

 We attended the Saint X Cheer banquet last night, which marks the official end of the Saint X 2023-24 cheer season.  It was a wild ride, and I learned some of the ins and outs of the cheer world.  I am sure there are still many unknowns, but I have a greater appreciation for the sport of cheer now.  Coach Heidi made an interesting statement last night that cheerleaders are somewhat individual in mastering and achieving their own skills, but they also fill a space that is empty when they are not present.  In some cases, it is not as noticeable; however if one member of a stunt group is absent, then the entire stunt group is at a disadvantage.  There are not really subs for positions in cheer as there are in most other team sports. Endings and Beginnings

 As Ali gets closer to the end of this gymnastics season, she is starting to realize how big of an impact gymnastics has had in her life.  She is sad to say good-bye to gymnastics, which is completely understandable.  Being at the gym 3-4 days per week has been her life for the last 6 years.  And she has made some of her closest friends through gymnastics.  She had the best meet she has had in a long time yesterday; if bars was not so hard for her and she had the desire to get the skills she needs on bars, I have no doubt she would be staying with gymnastics for at least one more season.  I one thousand percent comprehend the defeat she would feel to repeat Level 6 for the third year in a row.  BUT I also know that if she put her mind to achieving her handstand and Giant on bars, she could do it.  She just doesn't want it enough. And Drew's soccer team had his their first friendly on Saturday as Mockingbird.  They won 2-1, after scoring 2 goa...

Happy 2024

 It is hard to believe we are already halfway through the first month of this year. The year definitely started off in a positive way with Michigan securing their first "official" National championship against Washington.  The Rose Bowl game that enabled them a chance to play in the pinnacle game was fantastic.  Michigan was behind for the first time this season, and were able to come back in the 4th quarter and secure the win.  It was the most stressful game, but we were SO happy when they won of course. Ali competed in her first gymnastics meet this year, and scored just over 35, so she has already qualified for state.  She is still struggling on bars a bit, but continues to be confident on floor and vault as well as attempting back handspring on the beam.  She does not love in the same way that she has, but she is still so much fun to watch.  I predict this season will be her last as a gymnast, and she will pursue cheer, which would be a great trans...
