Lots of spending going on.....
Wow, it has been a week of purchases to get ready for our house closing next week. The biggest priorities were beds for the kids, mattresses and a kitchen table. We made a large purchase from Wayfair because I had been assured that using FedEx Delivery Manager vacation hold. So we placed the order, even though some of the delivery dates were before our closing. BUT it was not that simple, in order for the Delivery Manager to be authorised, I had to receive a code at the delivery address. That doesn't really help, as the address is not mine yet. I spent over 2 and half hours on the phone to both Wayfair and FedEx trying to sort it out, but I was unsuccessful. I am a bit perturbed! Thankfully the current owners are understanding.....
We also went over the weekend and purchased 6 new mattresses! Ouch. Hopefully we won't need to buy mattresses again for quite some time now. Every bed in our house will have a new mattress, and we may be sleeping on the mattresses for a few days until Brad is able to construct all the furniture.
Our next big purchases will be new cars. Brad has found the car that he would like to get, but we are still debating about my (the family) car. We have driven the Kia Telluride, which we really liked but as they have only been for sale for 2 years, there is not much wiggle room on price. So we drove a Honda Pilot and checked out the Honda Odyssey. Brad is very anti-minivan, but I think we still need a car with more cargo space in the trunk than the three rows SUVs provide. We shall see what happens.......I would be perfectly happy driving a mini-van, but apparently Brad and Lauren think it doesn't look cool enough. Stay tuned.
I have become obsessed with furniture consignment. Now that we have purchased all the necessities, I am on a mission to find a good deal that has character. I found a super cool bar for the basement that is made from an old door...but we need to see if it will be the right size, it's a bit shorter than what they currently have there.
Tuesday is the big day when we get to see all of our belongings that have been in storage for nearly 6 years. I know for sure there are going to be some surprises of items we completely forgot that we put in storage. We also get our air shipment from the UK, so I will be very interested to see what actually made it into the air shipment, as Brad was overseeing that part of the packing. And our mattresses will be delivered, and some of the furniture we ordered from Wayfair. And fingers crossed, the WiFi will be set up.
And Wednesday the kids can ride the bus to school. It is going to be quite a shock for all of the kids, as Drew's bus picks up at 6:41 AM! And I assume the girls bus picks up at 7:45 or so. Drew has found out that three of the boys in his class live in our neighborhood, and at least one of them is on the same bus. so that will be incentive for him!
Wow. Be sure to buy spices. We are still collecting after our move😀
