The week with high school soccer and Taylor Swift Eras Tour movie
What a week and weekend!
Saint X played in two soccer games in the regional division of the State Soccer tournament this week. The first was on Tuesday, and they played against Trinity. The girls cheered (but Lauren opted out); Brad, Drew and I went to watch. It was at Collegiate, which has their sports facility close to the AHS Green. It was a very exciting atmosphere, and the students and cheerleaders were on the same side of the field with the players, as all the fans were on the side with the bleachers. And Saint X won, so on to the regional finals, which were played on Thursday night against Collegiate. Lauren did show up to cheer for that game, but there were only 6 of them there, so they left at halftime. The energy was not quite the same, even though the game meant more. When I left with 6 minutes left, it was tied 2-2. I really wanted to stay but we had tickets for the Eras Tour movie, so I had to head home! Saint X ended up winning 3-2 in extra time!! (Just discovered they will be playing North Oldham in the first divisional playoff game this week.)
The Eras Tour movie was AMAZING! It was like we got to see the show all over again. I am completely fascinated by Taylor Swift and the show. I want to see a behind the scenes show about how she changes clothes so fast. She has about 10 costume changes, including shoes and all the mic boxes are co-ordinated with the dress. In the movie, there was almost no downtime, but in the live show there was also very little downtime. And the shoes were mostly boots that are not really quick to get off and on. She must have 3 people dressing her: 1 for the clothes and 2 others, 1 for each foot. And her lipstick stayed on the entire time, like what kind of lipstick does she wear? And her hair at the beginning of the show versus the end of show is amazing: her hair at the beginning is straight and flat, but at the end it is curly and damp, much like my hair in the heat and humidity.
Drew had 4 soccer games this weekend. One on Friday night, 2 on Saturday, and one on Sunday. It is so fun to be able to watch him play soccer! I think I went to more games this weekend than I went to the entire season last fall. (Having a driver makes so much of a difference!) The outcomes were not what the boys would have liked, but they still tried hard. The transition from 9v9 to 11v11 on the bigger field after losing their 2 best players and with a new coach has been an adjustment, but I can see improvement. It is such a great group of boys and families!
