The week with the Mock Schedule Night
We are all in our groove for the most part. It is hard to believe it is already September and the unofficial end to summer. The weather was beautiful for the first part of the week, it was feeling like fall in the mornings and not too hot in the afternoons, but the heat was back this weekend. Typical menopausal Kentucky weather.
The girls went to the Assumption-Sacred Heart volleyball game on Tuesday night: Lauren was taking photos and Ali was a spectator. I am glad they are getting into the spirit of high school sports.
Lauren had her first official dance rehearsal for the show, after cheer practice, which made for a long day, but she came home in a great mood and said she is really happy that she is doing the show. I am glad too, because it is probably her last show as a cast member if she continues to do cheer. It will depend on the musical they decide to do next year. I am glad she is a part of it as well, since last year she got mono opening night of the show last spring!!
The highlight of the week for me was Mock Schedule night at the girls' school where the parents come in and spend 10 minutes in each class, and meet the teachers, see who is in their class, and hear about what they will be learning in that class. All three years, I have walked away completely in awe of the teachers and how much they truly love teaching and I feel so thankful for such amazing role models and adults who are a big part of our daughter's lives. Brad and I had to divide and conquer this year since both of the girls are there, but we were able to go to several classes together because the girls have study different blocks, and they have the same world geography teacher.
Friday night was another Saint X football game, this time against a better opponent, but they still won pretty handily! It was HOT and humid, but Lauren did great. It is so much fun watching her on the field. Aunt Anne came to spectate, as she used to do when Christian was a student there. Drew came along as well; we were hoping that Ali would come as well but she said she would be too embarrassed to be seen sitting with us, so she stayed home with Archie.
The girls and I went to Kings Island on Saturday, which was another hot day, but they enjoyed it. I rode 2 rides, which is about all I can handle now that I am old and all the the up and down and going fast makes me feel like I am going to puke! But I read almost an entire book, so not a bad day in my opinion. I would have enjoyed the opportunity to watch the first Michigan game with Brad and Drew, but there will be other chances.
The rest of Labor Day weekend was pretty low-key. Lauren has a respiratory virus, so she has been laying very low. We had Mum Mum, Nana and Papa over for some ribs tonight and Archie helped himself to a quarter rack, naughty dog! They are now fans of the Ninja Creami as well!
